About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher in Prof. Isabel Valera’s Probabilistic Machine Learning group at Saarland University. I hold a degree in Physics and Computer Science and completed my PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen. My PhD work studied collaboration as a principle for improving machine learning: on the modeling side, I developed a non-adversarial framework that cooperatively trains a proxy model to symmetrize the KL divergence, and on the societal side, I studied algorithmic collective action: how individuals can coordinate data modifications to influence trained models, including practical methods for minorities to reduce unfairness. I am interested in the two-way relationship between ML and the world: what we can learn from data, and how people and ML systems shape each other
